Bakery & catering online shop built with Shopify
Creating a new ecommerce store for one of the top Polish bakeries.
About the project
The main goal of the project was to build a user-friendly online store for a traditional Polish bakery. Batida's menu contains mainly variants of sweet cakes, but it’s extended with a lunch and catering menu that attracts customers looking for a wide range of products.
The previous online store was based on WooCommerce and didn't meet the client's expectations. We decided to use Shopify, which offers many out-of-the-box solutions and can be easily extended with new plugins. The new store launched on September 17th - we met our deadline.
Goals and challenges
UX/UI & SEO e-commerce analysis
Our team had the chance to work on the UX/UI part of the online store and introduce visual changes on the Frontend while working on the selected Shopify theme. We also introduced SEO improvements to help the client not only delight customers, but also build traffic.
Custom integration with PayU on Shopify
PayU was the payment gateway selected by our client - and it’s not an official Shopify partner in Poland. We had to write a custom Ruby application for the integration, which required hands-on experience and extensive knowledge about payment security, as well as scrupulous testing.
Extending the new store with Shopify plugins
What had to appropriately configure the whole system and all of the add-ons required by our client. Shopify offers much out-of-the-box functionality, but some features had to be added by using separate plugins. Each of those required an appropriate setup, to make sure that it would work correctly.
New store UI
After a thorough UX/UI analysis of the previous online store and conversations with the client’s team, we introduced a slick new Shopify theme for the store.
Payment options selection
All of Batida’s online clients can pay for their purchases by credit/debit card, BLIK, Google Pay & Apple Pay, bank transfer, as well as PayPal.
The client wanted to receive an e-commerce platform that would be scalable in the future and easy-to-manage by their team - all within a short period of time.
